The Victoria park 18-hole golf course is being turned into public parklands by the Brisbane City Council. The change has been a topic of conversation for quite some time, but do you know exactly what is changing?
Victoria park is well known by many Brisbane residents. Many people have attended weddings, school formals, galas, played putt putt, spent their Friday nights on the driving range or have enjoyed a round of 18 holes on the golf course.
The 18-hole golf course is being transformed into a 45-hectare public parkland. The masterplan has now been revealed. Brisbane residents have been relieved to find out that the putt putt course, driving range and function centre will remain.
The parkland will become a space for tourists and residents to enjoy.
A draft plan has now been released for the re-development.
- A tree house
- Mountain bike and walking tracks
- High ropes course
- Cultural hub
- Vegetable patch
- Skate park
- Tennis and cricket courts
- A 1.4-hectare lake
- Boat house and kayak hire
- Multiple outdoor entertaining spaces
- A canopy walk
- Children’s playground
- Children’s waterpark
- A golf skills practice area
- A new function facility
- And of course, the put putt course and driving range are remaining
